SPECIAL AIRPORTS & ROUTE QUALIFICATION

COURSE INTRODUCTION

State Authorities have determined that certain airports, due to items such as surrounding terrain, obstructions, or complex approach/departure procedures, be designated as “special airports” thereby requiring unique qualifications for flight crewmembers and/or aircraft commanders/PICs prior to operating into such airports. Additionally, specific routes, route segments, and areas of operation may also be designated as requiring special navigation qualifications.

The Special Airports and Route Qualification training course provides newly hired flight crewmembers and commanders/PICs with the required knowledge and skills necessary to safely operate into these designated Special Airports and within areas and routes over difficult terrain.
