CORPORATE SAFETY CULTURE DEVELOPMENT
COURSE INTRODUCTION
The safety culture of an organization is comprised of a set of sustainable values and attitudes regarding safety issues which are openly shared among the members of the group within the workplace.
The safety culture determines the extent to which the employees are positively committed to safety, consistently evaluate safety related behavior, are willing to openly communicate safety issues without fear of reprisal, are aware of the known risks and unknown hazards induced by their activities, are willing and able to adapt themselves when facing safety issues, and finally, are continuously behaving so as to preserve and enhance safety.
While these attributes represent the desired results, how do we establish such a safety culture and, equally or more importantly, how do we measure and maintain it? Course attendees will receive “real-world” guidance from recognized industry safety experts on the “do’s and don’ts” of organizational safety culture implementation as well as benefit from “lessons learned” from other industry organizations both within and external to aviation.
